Sweet and Sour Meatballs- yummmmm.

So, I kind of made this recipe up and I kind of just combined things I got from the internet to make one of my favorite recipes of all time (okay of the moment but whatever- I make this all the time- my family is sick of them I’m sure =).


1 lb ground turkey
1 egg
3/4 oatmeal
Organic no salt seasoning from Costco or other seasonings to taste
2 Tbsp Canola Oil (or any oil really but I’m on an organic conola kick at the moment because it works well at high temperatures vs EVOO which spoils at high temps)
Red, yellow, green, or orange peppers (optional)
Pineapple (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and set aside a 9×13 inch pyrex dish.

Mix first four ingredients together and form into 1 inch meatballs.

Heat oil over medium to medium high heat. Add meatballs and brown on all sides but do not cook through. Transfer meatballs to pyrex dish and place in pre-heated oven for 20 minutes flipping once. Saute the peppers if using them and then add them (and pineapples if using them) to the pyrex dish.

Sweet & Sour Sauce:

3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup white vinegar
4 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp garlic salt (optional, I often skip it or substitute garlic powder)

Whisk all ingredients together and pour over sweet and sour meatballs before cooking in the oven.

Serve over rice and enjoy!
