70s??? 80s??

Imagine my surprise and excitement when I opened the weather report and saw that it was 64 today and into the 70s and 80s over the next week. Now, considering I had just been outside for a walk in the chilly wind I should have realized there was something wrong with that picture but it took a second for my hopes to be dashed when I realized it was the weather for Orlando. Sigh. Our weather? 40s and below and possibly snow on the horizon. Talk about disappointment!

We just got back from a walk around the neighborhood. It’s interesting how much windier it is at the bottom of the hill versus the mild wind at the top of the neighborhood. Brrr! But this brings me to my key thought as I pushed almost 60 lbs of kids in my 10ish pound double stroller up two steep hills, I sure hope Disney world is pretty flat! I was winded by the top of the big hill and had to stop a couple times around the first cul de sac, which has a pretty steep dip but is, at least, short. This walk has been a couple weeks coming but between the frigid temperatures and one sickness after the other, the Fullers have been mostly housebound. Now, to get out a couple times a week to “train” for all the walking coming up on our vacation- they say you can walk about 50 miles in a week at Disney…not sure I believe that number but I’m sure there will be enough that a little bit of prep wouldn’t hurt!

But, I really hope it warms up soon because that was a chilly walk ending with a couple of little icyc-kiddos. We ended the outing with some hot chocolate and Nilla wafers. Now back to hibernating for the rest of the day!

A Fun Fishy Fourth Birthday

She may be a little fish lover now but she will always be a princess <3

She may be a little fish lover now but she will always be a princess ❤

Anya turned four back on August 5 and we had a fun birthday party to celebrate the day and I even blogged about it…and wordpress proceeded to die and eat my post (so much for the auto save feature!). Instead of throwing my computer out the window (I was seriously tempted) I abandoned my birthday posting for a while…and, finally, I’m ready to throw some pictures up (Well, I suppose I wasn’t since this post is from about 6 months ago and I’m only now getting around to posting it now- see abandoning facebook has multi-purpose- end of time suck and beginning of finally getting around to blogs I’ve been procrastinating=). It was actually a pretty involved event but in my rushing about to make all the food- I didn’t get anywhere near the number of photos I’d wanted (note to self- never make food again!!). But here’s a short recap.

We started off the summer with a princess piggy theme planned…until my little pink princess suddenly decided piggies were out and dolphins were in- blue is the new pink don’t you know? So, I kind of put off planning, put off planning, and decided to have a small fish themed party and ended up with this:

Welcome to fishtopia: the ocean hallway, the happy birthday corridor, and the table of yum...yeah I stayed up all night the night before (and so did J)

Our little fishy is FOUR (I can't believe it! It's gone by too fast!)!

We had a great turn out and a lot of fun with all our friends and family. After all this birthday fantasticness I’m still tired even thinking about it and it’s been 6 months!! Good thing I’ve got another six to think about it. I’m leaning toward a trip to the aquarium but my little fishy is already planning her fifth birthday- she’s talking mermaids- I’d better get working on that…

A Sweet Hippo First Birthday

The birthday girl on her birthday- it’s not easy being ONE!

And, here I am at the end of birthday season (well, almost…but I don’t think Jonathan expects either a candy buffet or a nautically themed fishy hallway) finally. So, now I can maybe get in a few blogs of my girls’ birthdays this year. I’ll go backwards since the last time I tried to blog on Anya’s birthday the page crashed and I almost threw my computer =)

Our bitty baby Bianca turned one on August 24 and we had about a million celebrations the final one being her candy themed hippo party with all our friends and family (who were close enough to come!). Here is a short recap of the party.

I’ll start with the fabulous candy buffet. Everyone really seemed to enjoy visiting Bianca’s Shoppe and I love how our background evolved to include a veranda. It was a total fluke but it added just the right touch!

We picked a few…okay more than a few…types of candy and I made mixes all labeled with Birthday girl related messages- thank you to my fabulous husband for all the cricut work. I had bought the polka dotted spinwheels to make a centerpiece decoration but thought they would be fantasic as the candy inserts. When I ran out of them I grabbed one of my daughters cool straws and added it to the almond joy bucket which also looked pretty cool.Image

Lollipop, Lollipop, Oh Lollipop. Lollipops have become Bianca’s unofficial first birthday thing, so we had to have a lollipop tree (and wreath pictured later).

What would a party be without games? My girls look so much alike that I often look at pictures and think for a split second- hmm…is that Anya or Bianca?? And, I’m their mother! So, I decided to print pictures of each of them and have the guests try to figure out who was who. It was a lot of fun and the winner took home my rainbow dum dum wreath (have you noticed yet that we had a lot of themes going on? Candy shop, hippos, polka dots, rainbows, lollipops…am I missing any?)ImageAnd, because B’s first year has been littered with monthly pictures taken with a hippo, we had to incorporate hippos into the theme somehow, so we ordered these beautiful hippo creations from Mandy’s Cakes and Candy. Amanda was awesome to work with, her prices were reasonable, and she did a fantastic job. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for cakes in the Winchester area. All I told her was I wanted hippos and my colors and she even recreated the birthday tutu I made so the hippo and Bianca could match!ImageThe birthday girl certainly enjoyed the hippo cake…though there was not as much smashing as I would have liked. Poor little Bianca was a bit out of sorts on her birthday day. I think “it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to” has never applied more.

All in all, it was a fabulous party with friends and family and Jonathan and I had fun exercising our creative abilities putting it together! Here are a few more shots from the day:

My little candy helper

Our little family

Everyone enjoyed filling their lollipop bags with all the sweet treats from the buffet. We spent a long afternoon fielding “Is the candy buffet open yet?” questions from the kiddos. It was such a hit with everyone! Who doesn’t like candy??

Gotta have some food- here are some shots of guests enjoying the fabulous Patsy’s Pastry Pizza and homemade Mac ‘n cheese made by Jonathan. Oh and some sweet and sour meatballs I threw in for good measure…boy do we have leftovers!

Sisters rocking out together- the biggest smile we got all night from the birthday girl! She adores her big sister!

Made a wish now time to take a lick…or two or three!

Being the birthday girl is hard work. She passed out with daddy during the viewing of her birthday video.

Does your three year old sit still??

Mine does…sort of. Okay not really but she let me do this earlier:

I was going to do a french braid on each side and then braid them together but that wasn’t working out so I just decided to keep braiding all the way across. I’m sure someone somewhere came up with this hairdo way before I did but it’s always fun when an experiment works out. It’s not exactly a neat hairstyle but I wasn’t being particularly meticulous and Anya wasn’t sitting particularly still (but she’s three and this is pretty good for a three year old imo =). Maybe tomorrow I will revisit my original idea!

Fun for Father’s Day

This year, we went out of town the weekend of Father’s day so we celebrated it officially when we got back and into the groove of things a little, on Monday evening. We had fondue (I asked for Anya’s input and she immediately asked for “hotdue”…not sure anyone wants that though 😉 and a fun little family party. If you ask me- these are some of my favorite times- we plan a special dinner, we decorate- sort of- and we spend a lot of time gathering and making surprises for different members of the family. These are almost more valuable and memorable than the big parties with lots of faces and barely time to sit and take it in. I love our growing family and the fun things we do together.

Anya was so happy about giving her daddy a squid/jellyfish/whatever the heck that thing is ornament for Father’s Day. She also picked him out a fishy and herself a dolphin.

Helping Daddy open presents- swiss army knife he’d been meaning to get. Why is it that I got a Tiffany Necklace for mother’s day and he got um…a knife and xmas ornaments?? =)

I can’t decide which of the presents was my favorite but the book was pretty awesome because it was so full of Anya and she LOVED it and wanted to read it with Daddy over and over.

Shutterfly baby photo books are the perfect way to preserve your baby’s precious moments.

This was Daddy’s other present: a photo session of the girls in daddy shirts (Anya’s is an octopus because he has shared his love of all things ocean with her) in a frame with a mat painted by Anya and their hands entwined at the thumbs. ❤ my girls and they love their daddy.

Fondue time! I think this is officially the Fuller’s favorite meal and it was delicious!

Even Bianca enjoyed the “hotdue.” It was an awesome night and will be a memory we will cherish for years to come- well at least I will and I hope my family feels the same!

My bitty princess is 7 months..and fits in her Easter Basket…

Okay, well she’s days away from 8 months so I figured I needed to stop putting it off and retry to do her 7 month pictures (I tried way closer to 7 months but lets just say she wasn’t exactly being cooperative that day). I still can’t believe she fits in her Easter Basket. But, to be fair these are the large PBK baskets and when I bought Anya’s online last year I was a little shocked at the size. I really need to measure things before I buy them online =) Bianca was perfectly happy in the basket and her sister even cooperated a little for some shots. I love my perfect little angel babies =) (okay they’re not always perfect nor always little angels but I love them anyway).

Bianca was being so happy it was hard to pick just one picture- I love them all!

ImageThey kind of sort of adore each other. I love that they’re holding hands…not sure it’s entirely a mutual hand holding but Bianca’s going to hold her own in no time…she’s already an excellent hair puller much to my chagrine.

I sometimes find it hard to believe she's real- she looks like such a little doll.
